Can you make an effective heavy bag by filling a duffel bag with sand?
I can’t afford a heavy swinging bag by any means, but I’ve been trying to find something that will work that I can just put together on my own. I’ve tried a pillowcase on the suggestion of a martial artist friend of mine, but it wound up ripping the fabric, so I need something more durable. So will a duffel bag work? If not, any other suggestions? Thanks.
You could make it with a duffel bag, but you would want to put the sand inside a heavy duty plastic trash Bag first. The weave of a duffel bag would allow some granules of sand to come through, as will the zipper and corner seams. Placing the sand inside a thick plastic trash bag, then inside dufel would make it last longer.
Would a rucksack be better for my shoulder and neck strain?
l carry a heavy folder because of College and l have it in a handBag, but since l’ve been wearing it, l sometimes get a muscle ache on my neck and shoulder, and my Teacher said that it would be better to get a Rucksack where it will be easier to carry. Would it be better for me?

It probably would be better, HOWEVER if you live in the city, or just a big college where students aren’t trustworthy, I’d be very careful about putting valuables in it, as they could open in without your knowledge.
The best idea would be to get a Backpack/rucksack/whatever that has drawstrings on top, covered by a flap.
What kind of DSLR backpack should I buy?
I am travelling to Beijing in July for 6 days.
I want to take my Nikon DSLR 40, but I am leery of carrying it around the city. I thought of using a Backpack, but I need it to be more than just a camera bag. I am not planning to carry much equipment (perhaps just two lenses and a cleaning cloth), but I need to personal items as well.
Any suggestions on a good, relatively inexpensive Bag?

It’s not going to break the bank, it’s very high quality, will carry all you need, and will provide you with more than enough room should you wish to expand your photo equipment in the future.
Your best bet is to go into a camera store and handle and examine all the bags properly, rather than view them online.
